Andrewes, Thomas, 25 Baldwin St, Bristol, cm and upholder (1781–d. 1819). In 1785 supplied a considerable quantity of fine inlaid furniture for the Mansion House, Queen's Sq. The cost of Andrewes's work amounted to £594 1s 9d.

Ferrand, Thomas, York, carver, gilder and frame maker (b. 1786–d. 1852). Trading in partnership with William Dodgson in Coney St, 1814–16, when the partnership was dissolved. Ferrand is recorded alone in Stonegate in 1823; and at 7 Mount, 1828–30.

Firth, G., address unrecorded. Stamp found on pair of mid Georgian mahogany open armchairs with shaped rectangular backs, pierced vertical splats between outcurved arm supports, upholstered seats, square fluted legs and stretchers.

Grendey, Giles, London, cm (b. 1693–d. 1780). Giles Grendey was born in Wotton-under-Edge, Glos., the son of William Grendey, and his wife Anne (neé Hall). In 1709 he was app. to William Sherborne, a second-generation London joiner.

Hall, Joseph, Hull, Yorks., cm, carpenter and joiner (1740–54). Son of Joseph Hall, joiner; admitted burgess in 1740. In 1749 his app.

Hingston, James, North St, Bristol, carpenter, cm and upholder (1791–1826). Recorded at no. 7 in 1795; as Hingston & Richardson at no. 6, 1805–06; nos 6–7 in 1816; and 7, 1817–25.

Kennett, Robert & Kidd, William, London, u (1766–95). Amongst the Chancery Masters’ Exhibits in the PRO is an account book of a furniture-making firm for 1792–95.
