He and Geoffrey Dupayne, itinerant carvers, were responsible for the screen and loft in the parish church of Ashburton, Devon. The completed project, on which they worked for two years (1521-23), cost the parish £26 10s 7d, of which £20 was for their labour and design. They received a payment of £7 at the start of the project with the remaining payments spread over the two years. On completion they were paid an additional 'reward’ of 76s.
